I forgot that our government had a responsibility to break up monopolies since they never do it. Disney is allowed to buy up every studio under the sun to produce woke garbage. As well with every other sector in the economy.
But Two game studios merging because they wanted to stop its horrible management nope that’s a step too far we gotta stop that from happening because monopolies all of a sudden are scary to the feds now.
WASHINGTON, Dec 9 (Reuters) - The Biden administration may struggle to convince a judge to stop Microsoft Corp's (MSFT.O) $69 billion bid for "Call of Duty" maker Activision , because of the voluntary concessions offered by the tech giant to allay fears it could dominate the gaming market, antitrust experts said.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), which enforces antitrust law, asked a judge to block the transaction on Thursday, arguing that the merger would allow Microsoft's Xbox to get exclusive access to Activision games, leaving Nintendo consoles and Sony's PlayStation out in the cold.
Microsoft has said time and time again that they wouldn’t make them exclusive since the era of exclusive consoles is dead at this point.
Like they should go after Sony and especially Nintendo if they believe that exclusivity is a form of monopolization. But they won’t since monopolies are good if they help the establishment spread its propaganda.
I mean Activision will keep its awful higher ups that they refuse to investigate for some reason. But hey at least some 15 year old wagie on Twitter will think that Biden is finally standing up for the “working man” by blocking a merger that would see purge of greedy people they keep complaining about.
They either gotta let this happen or go Stalin mode on the entire economy. There shouldn’t be cherry picking on what should be broken up or stay as a monopoly.
